Hi Bel, I loved your Wake Up Younger Program! In the past I have gone to bed whenever I was tired. Sometimes that would be 10 pm, sometimes 11:30 pm and sometimes even 2:30 am. I had no regular sleeping routine.

Since implementing your sleep study I’ve discovered how GREAT I feel after a good night's sleep! I am energetic! I wake up before the alarm goes off and I am ready for a very productive day! I have been using self-talk to prepare myself for bed. It make going to bed fun when you know how good you will feel when you wake up energized. I also used some meditation and relaxation breathing techniques - which assisted me in relaxing my body.

Sleep had long become an issue for me during a time when I needed it most - I was working full time, training hard, studying, and in the process of setting up a business so I could leave the corporate world and live the life I had dreamed of, full of passion and assisting others. I didn't know how I was possibly going to continue trying to juggle all this with the constant nights of restless sleep and feeling like I had only just hit the pillow when the alarm went off each morning. This program gave me the tools to be able to prepare myself better when it comes to sleeping and helped me to get a better night of sleep. I can now get a solid 7 to 8 hours sleep by following the program and implementing small changes such as switching off electronically before bed, doing a little personal ritual such as a shower followed by aromatherapy oils that I have included such as lavender and eliminating negative self talk with a few minutes of meditation.

I have been finding that I have been waking up feeling more refreshed and revitalised. I have eliminated the need for sleeping pills and also have a cup of herbal tea before bed. Feeling wonderful!

Wake Up Younger came to my life exactly at the right time. I was having trouble sleeping for a while. Even when I was asleep I was always half awake and unable to turn my brain off. When I woke up in the mornings I was super tired and started to get wrinkles and look old, even though I am only in my mid twenties.

I started to make little changes at first. I would have a better night sleep every now and then. But the more of the changes I made the better I started to sleep. I was very excited to start “Wake Up Younger,” because I have had a lot of difficulty finding restful sleep lately. I knew that my lack of sleep was affecting my ability to perform at work, my ability to handle stress, and even my looks, but I didn’t know what to do about it.

I found Belinda’s ‘Wake up younger’ guide extremely helpful. Not only was it easy to read and grasp but I found that even just a few changes helped my sleeping a lot. I feel much more relaxed now about the whole thing and that in itself is helping my sleep patterns.

What I found particularly helpful is seeking out sunlight or daylight soon after getting up. I go for walks now first thing in the morning. Also I turn off my computer early enough so that I can just relax and find my own peace without being cranked up by the computer screen or e-mails etc. These extremely easy steps have helped a lot already and I am looking forward to implementing even more tips from the guide.

I've struggled with sleeping well since my first pregnancy. I started feeling the effects of low sleep with a newborn of course, but months after she was sleeping normally I still found myself having side-effects that I didn't realize were from sleep deprivation.

Just reading Belinda's list of things that are affected by sleep were a revelation to me. I started tracking my sleep with her Excel sheet and implementing the suggestions she made. I couldn't do them all at once (and she doesn't recommend you do, just do what you can) and after a week I was able to see what changes made the biggest impacts on my sleep.

Now I know beyond a shadow of a doubt (I have my own sleep chart to reference!) which things I can do to ensure I have a great sleep- and what to avoid. I absolutely recommend this program to anyone who feels like they're "just getting older" and losing energy, youth and beauty. I just completed Belinda Benn's program, "Wake up Younger", and I found it has truly helped me experience the importance of sleep in feeling my best.

Before the program, I had trouble making sleep a priority because of work and family obligations. I knew I was tired and lacked energy, but it wasn't until I read Belinda's list of sleep deprivation symptoms that I understood that my lack of focus and motivation could be a cause of not getting enough sleep.

The month-long program describes the cycles of sleep, gives practices to help improve sleep quality, and includes a checklist of what to avoid in order to have a better nights sleep. Keeping a daily sleep diary helped me monitor my levels of mental and physical functioning and kept me on track with the program. Committing to implementing proper "sleep hygiene" was exactly what I needed to change my habit of staying up too late in order to "get more done".

A week into the program after setting an earlier bedtime, I realized the only reason I slept deeply for 5-6 hours a night was that I was exhausted. When I started allowing time for 7-8 hours of sleep nightly, I found myself restless. I have struggled with sleeping problems on and off my entire life. One of the problems is that I will simply wake up wide awake in the middle of the night. My brain immediately starts working away and I cannot get back to sleep.

The wake-up younger programme is fantastic. By making a few simple changes to my day, the average hours of sleep I experience has increased from around 4 ½ to 7 ½ hours a night.

How have I done this?

Firstly, understanding the sleep cycle.

Wake-up younger explains the sleep cycle and what is happening to your body while you rest. By understanding that we actually go through several sleep cycles a night, I was able to identify the stage in a cycle when I was waking up, understand that this was natural, and that if I could relax and not allow my thoughts to wander, I would go back to sleep.

Secondly, how to stop the mind wandering?

The programme teaches you how to let go of negative thoughts when you are first going to sleep. I live an exceedingly busy life and run two businesses, so there is always plenty going on in my brain. I now stop working and stay completely away from the computer after 9pm. I don’t even feel guilty anymore!

I organise my time better. Every day I make sure I have written a to do list for the following day, this effectively eliminates the anxiety I was experiencing when I woke in the night and started to mull over the huge jumble of tasks that lay ahead.

Thirdly, how to get back to sleep?

Wake up younger teaches you to use visualisation and relaxation techniques. By regulating my breathing and progressively relaxing my body I often just fall asleep without getting to the visualisation.

I have found two of the suggested visualisation techniques very effective: visualising myself going through the sleep cycle, and imagining myself back in a happy state and a safe place where I used to sleep well as a child.

I have also found that regular exercise and no alcohol after 9pm goes a long way to helping me actually stay asleep.

Of course there is still the odd night when I have problems, but now I know that it doesn’t have to be the start of a long term pattern. Like anything in life, the key to success is consistency, so with the new day I start following the programme afresh.

I never get anymore than 2-3 hours of sleep a night and couldn't wait to get started. For two weeks I followed your program for the most part! Finally, for the first time in a very very long time I was able to get longer and better sleep with your program. It took a couple of nights to get into the full swing of things, but after that I was able take less time getting to sleep and when I did wake up (normal for me) I was able to get back to sleep within a shorter amount of time that I ever had before!!! Then one day, I woke up in the morning and I realized I’d slept right through the entire night, something I hadn’t done since I was a child...a long time ago :)
